For those who are not joining Elaine for her Dorset trip away, this is an all day coastal walk which follows the Shipwrights Way from Havant to Portsmouth Harbour.
I accept that the walk is 13.4 miles, however it is entirely flat. We set off from Havant train station car park at 10am on the Hayling "Billy Line" which was named affectionately after the train which took holiday makers onto Hayling Island.
We will need to maintain a steady pace to cover the miles but we will enjoy a coffee stop, lunch stop, ice cream stop at South Parade Pier and a liquid refreshment stop in Old Portsmouth before catching the train back to Havant - hence being a day out!
The fee for the car park at Havant Train station car park is £2.50 (there is limited free on road parking but we will be gathering in the car park to start our walk at 10am)
There is a ferry crossing from Hayling to Portsmouth which is £3.50 and a train fare of £4.30 from Portsmouth Harbour station back to Havant.
All we can hope for is some good weather!
All are welcome together with dogs under control and the walk is accessible by public transport.
