We kick off from the mouth of the Derwent at Sawley Marina and head down the Trent & Mersey canal to Shardlow and Ambaston before following the river Derwent footpath to Derby bus station. Paid parking is available at Sawley Marina but I'd recommend using the bus. Regular buses on Nottingham Skylink and my15 (http://www.trentbarton.co.uk/) stop outside the marina. Meet at the north end of the car park at Sawley Marina.
