Start Point: Swan Inn
WEATHER PERMITTING – PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION. Starting from the car park of the Swan Inn, we’ll head north towards Toby’s Hill and Bank Top Wood. We pass alongside Marchington Cliff (a slightly exaggerated title) and then head south down Woodroffe’s Cliff (also exaggerated). The walk will then pass Tomlinson’s Corner Wood and turn East, heading across farmlands and parkland. We walk through Eland Lodge equestrian centre and on to Bolingbroke Wood. A brief stretch down Wood Lane, until we get to Western Cottages. We pass through Foxholes and onto the village of Hanbury. Time permitting, there may be chance for a pub stop. It’s then a short trip across the fields, back to the Swan Inn.
The Swan Inn have confirmed that parking is allowed, as long as we use the section of the car park furthest away from the pub entrance.
It is not advisable to bring dogs, due to the livestock and the equestrian centre. Care will need to be taken when passing the horses.
WEATHER PERMITTING – please note that there is a section of the walk, near the start, over a mile long, that is particularly muddy. This will be difficult to pass even during a dry spell. Therefore, if there is a lot of rain in the few days prior to the walk, it is likely to be cancelled for safety reasons. PLEASE CHECK WITH THE WALK LEADER (if using the Ramblers site) or check for updates via Facebook.
