Overview

The walk will start from Durweston School, there is free street parking , please park considerately. We will ascend out of the village to join the Jubilee Way and then descend into Winterborne Stickland. We will follow the valley to Winterborne Houghton and cross Houghton Down to the valley below Great Hill before ascending Ochill Woods. We will lunch in this area depending on the weather.

We will continue to pick up the Wessex Ridgeway and walk up Ibberton Hill and Bell Hill to Ewern Down and then descend into the valley near Turnworth. There is a short climb up the opposite side of the valley before we enter Bonsley Common part of Blandford Forest and then return to our start point via Sutcombe Wood.

The route is mainly on footpath and bridleways with some quiet lanes and one section of road on the Wessex Ridgeway . There are no stiles on route. The paths may get muddy after rain so please be prepared with suitable footwear and waterproofs. The Ridgeway rises to 240m metres so can be quite chilly.
