IMPORTANT: You need to book a place (see link below) so I know clearly who is coming – this is often about total parking available - please make every effort to car-share to lessen our carbon footprint.
A circular from Puddletown, a village steeped in Thomas Hardy folklore, which takes us up the Piddle valley amid rising views of the gently rolling Dorset countryside, with a rich variety of flora and fauna to be seen, in a long arc that finally turns south to connect with Higher Bockhampton, where we can stop in briefly at the NT café for a loo stop (maybe a drink), before passing Hardy’s Cottage and onward east through the beautiful woodland and heath of Puddletown Forest as we make our way back to our start point. We’re mostly on good paths, and a lot of the route is level with just a couple of quite brief upward climbs. A visit to the Blue Vinney pub in Puddletown beckons for well-earned refreshments.
Note: Our group walks quite briskly so while this route's terrain isn’t demanding, if you have any concerns about fitness/capability please contact the walk leader in advance.

Any additional guidance to reach meet point:
Meet in a large layby on Dorchester road just outside Puddletown
NOTE: Whatthreewords is best, if you have to use a location, type Puddletown Recreation Ground into Google Maps. It will probably take you down the A35 to an exit marked for Puddletown Forest/TroyTown, then follow the signs to Puddletown and you will be on Dorchester Road and reach the lay-by on your left BEFORE reaching the Rec and the town. If you reach crossroads lights you’ve gone too far!
