Overview
Let's meet in the car park of The Jackdaw: https://www.jackdawdenton.co.uk, which has quite a lot of capacity. This circular walk starts from the pub, with the fairly steep climb as soon as we leave the cark park (brace, brace!) We head through Shelvin and past Wootton Park before traversing the rolling farmland around Geddinge Farm and Lyddenhill Wood. There are many beautiful valley views on this walk. When I reccied this, the sun was shining and it was amazing. The route continues south through Wickham Bushes and Swanton Farms, descending to the historic remains of St John's Commandery near Swingfield Street. From here, the walk heads northwest through peaceful countryside past Stockham and Hassage Carvett, climbing through Park Wood and West Lees Wood. The final stretch returns via Park Side and Hill House Farm, passing back through Wootton to complete the loop at Denton. Given it's Easter Sunday, I was lucky enough to book six places for lunch for 2 pm so do let me know if you'd like to book one of them - first come first served!
