Overview

This is an 11 mile walk, starting from the small village of Eastling, which lies in the Syndale Valley 4.5 miles southwest of Faversham. It is set within an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty on the slopes of the North Downs.

We commence our walk through woodland south of the village, heading towards Derbies Court, before making our way to an area marked on OS Explorer Map 149 as "The Valley". it is an mix of more wooded areas and open countryside to make progress to Charing Hill, where we pass alongside the early 19th century Grade II listed smock windmill, which is a now private dwelling.

We will no doubt call in at the Bowl Inn for the obligatory drinks break, before continuing north to pass close to Norton Hall, Halls Place and Otterden Place. There will of course be our usual short picnic stop at a suitable stopping point on the circuit.

The Carpenters Arms, on our return to Eastling is useful for those in need of a post walk drink.

Dogs welcome, but when required should be kept on a short lead.

Walk leader is Linda Barden
