Overview

This Grumpy Mole is a hostelry next to a superb bluebell wood on the Surrey Kent border. We shall explore the woodland paths of Staffhurst Wood and then loop north eastwards over farmland and a section of the Vanguard Way, with fine views towards the North Downs. Easy walking without hills but lots of stiles. Any dogs coming will need to be able to jump stiles or be lifted over, and there will be livestock in some fields. We shall call in at The Grumpy Mole/Royal Oak for a brief refreshment stop towards the end of the walk. There would be the option of driving back to lunch there after the walk and/or driving to the nearby hamlet of Crowhurst to see its magnificent ancient yew tree.
