Overview

Hello Everyone

Another new start venue for us this Sunday at Elford between Alrewas and Tamworth. New start venues mean new walking routes so that's what we have with a tad shorter walk that takes in the villages of Edingale and Harlaston with a look around Elford Hall Gardens before we curtail the proceedings and decamp to The Crown in Elford for the post walk social.

Usual fare walkwise with field footpaths, a little lane walking and some stiles. "Any mud" you ask?🤔 Yes, some, 'cos it's that time of year. Approximately fifteen stiles and pretty much flat as a cowpat.

Why not join us? You're welcome to do so! If this is your first time with Chase & District it'd be cool if you could let us know beforehand to help us to l👀k out for you. Cheers.

Registration: 09.45. Walk start: 10.00. Please note there's no rendezvous in Hednesford for our own members this week.

Directions: Primarily for our own members but relevant for anyone arriving latterly on the A513 via Alrewas and the A38, or from Tamworth.

From your location head for Lichfield then take A51 towards Tamworth. After the traffic light junction with Ryknild Street go on, shortly pass over A38, continue for 0.5 mile to then leave the A51 by turning left signed for Whittington.

In Whittington go straight on at the crossroads (Dog Inn on left) and continue for 2.5miles. After two narrow bridges turn left onto A513 then immediately left again into Elford (screenshot in the photos above). Continue through the village for 500 yards via The Shrubbery to then turn left into Church Road (screenshot above).

Once in Church Road proceed for 350 yards to turn left before last house (still Church Road, screenshot in the photos). Continue along the now narrow Church Road for 250 yards - marked as Old Hall Drive  on some maps - with the church grounds on your left. As Church Road bends left leave it by continuing straight on though the wooden gate into the Elford Hall Gardens driveway. The car park field is 100 yards further along on your left.

If the car park gate is closed carry on a little way to the courtyard area where block park in the limited space available to leave room for other visitors. John & Jen will be on site early to marshal as necessary.

Parking is courtesy of the gardens management to whom we'd like to make a donation of £1 per person please. Thank you.

There's a satellite screenshot of the final approaches in the photo section above to assist you if need be.

See you there on Sunday folks.
