Enjoy this scenic circular walk from Chingford station through Epping Forest. Our walk begins by visiting the historic Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge, followed by the peaceful Connaught Water teeming with birdlife. We move north through the Forest exploring Loughton Camp, an Iron Age fort giving us echoes of the Forest's ancient past. Our lunch break is at High Beach, offering impressive views and a choice of picnic, or a pub lunch at Kings Oak. Sturdy shoes are recommended as we venture beyond the main paths into the heart of the woods. Toilets at station and hunting lodge. Drop-out point – only by taxis to a station.
MEET: Chingford Station 11:15 (Suggestion for travel: get Victoria line to Walthamstow Central then change to 11.01 Weaver line - Overground to Chingford).
This is a joint walk with Richmond Ramblers.
On this walk there is no longer the option of a food kiosk, but there will be time for a one course lunch for a about 10 people if you know what you want when you arrive at the Kings Oak pub. To this end I have included a link to the menu which has soup at £7.50 or fix menu for £10 for one course. There is also a minimum card spend of £10.
