We last walked in the Allerthorpe area during March 2023 and was enjoyed by all.The attractive walk starts on Main Street,Allerthorpe. Please take care when parking. It is advised to park away from the bend in the road, and not to park outside the Plough Inn.Leaving the cars we walk past the village hall and head to historic Waplington Hall along a quiet road and secluded track. From here we meet up at Common Lane.Walking along the lane for a short distance, we turn into Allerthorpe Common noted for wildlife and wild flowers. It was first noted in the Domesday Book in 1086 AD and was owned by someone called Alfard. The woods at this time of year can be a bit muddy, however the trees may display attractive autumn colours if the weather is calm.
👬 New walkers welcome.
