Starting from Riverside carpark we walk through the new Brightwells square to Victoria Gardens (the former Victorian swimming baths) up Castle Street past the Uni to open fields and bridle paths. Joining St Swithun's Way, we walk along quiet roads and paths into the hamlet of Dippenhall, mentioned in Doomsday, and with several historic buildings. We return back to Farnham with an option to end the walk in the town centre (at 6.5 miles) or carry on through St Andrew's churchyard across Bishop's Meadow returning past the Maltings, through Gostrey Meadow back to Riverside.
Mix of town and countryside. Historic buildings, farmland, open countryside. Due to some overgrown areas long trousers and walking boots required. 25 steps on return into Farnham and with some undulating areas so poles recommended.
Free parking in Farnham on Sundays. Note that the starting point is Riverside carpark 2 or 3 (not 1 behind the Leisure Centre).
