The highlights of this 11-mile walk are the stretches along the North Downs Way, where the route is along the crest of the ridge giving extensive views over the countryside. The lesser known paths are also enjoyable and offer the chance to explore woodland and field paths, and visiting the remote church at Hastingleigh.
On leaving the the car park on Stone Street, we head towards Skeete then along to Hemsted and into West Wood, before crossing the busy road to the small hamlet of Lymbridge Green. From there we make our way to Whatsole Street, before our lunch/snack stop at Hastingleigh church.
From the church we soon join the North Downs Way National Trail, which we follow past Coombe Farm Trig Point and into Stowting, where there will be the obligatory pub stop at The Tiger Inn .
There are many climbs on the route, but nothing overly taxing for the regular walker, but the steepest one is when we ascend Cobbs Hill, it is worth the effort though as the views are great at the top, we then return to the car park to finish.
