Sunday 29th of March 'Forest of Dean' / start of British Summer Time!
We'll immerse ourselves in various types of woodland (Linton Wood, Hay Wood, Dymock Wood, Queen's Wood), and visit the nature reserves Shaw Common, Gwen and Vera's Fields, and Betty Daw's Wood (expect bird song!). We'll walk on parts of the Forest of Dean Greenway, the Daffodil Way, the Poets Path, and the Three Choirs Way. Paths are good except for a short stretch through Greenaway's Wood. There is lane walking through Kempley Green and Kempley, where we'll visit St Edwards Church (a 'miniature cathedral to the Arts and Crafts Movement'). We should have good distant views on this walk. The walk will be 9 miles approximately; there could be changes if the Forestry Commission decides to fell trees in an area.
Note: You may already see the small pale wild daffodils (narcissus pseudonarcissus) onthe banks along the motorway edges between j.2 and 3.
The walk will start at 10.00 from the little car park 'Dymock Woods ' just past Ross-on-Wye Golf Club, Gorsley, nearest postcode HR9 7UR, what3words twitching.shorts.fighters , OS map 189, grid reference SO 666 263.
