This walk has unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the illness of Walk leader.
We are the North West Wiltshire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
This is a very interesting historical walk combined with open countryside and a visit to the old town of Berkeley. If you are thinking of stepping up your miles this is a good start with only the suggestion of one hill (365ft elevation in total). We make our way to the entrance lock of the working docks and hence along the Severn Way towards Berkeley Power Station and then inland along the Berkely Pill. Once in Berkeley we head North across open fields to Purton where we connect with the Gloucester and Sharpness Ship canal with various interesting things to see such as the Demolished rail bridge across Severn, old barges reinforcing the river bank, locks, and the T.S. Vindicatrix memorial.

For those who are happy to car share, we meet first at 09:00am in the Bath Road car park in Chippenham at ST 918 733 or SN15 2SA. (“Pay and Display”). Otherwise we meet at 9.45 for a 10am start at the Sharpness recreation field car park (opposite the village hall) in Oldminster Road, Lifts are suggested at £5.00.
