Join us on a circular walk from Goathland that offers great views, historical interest and rail heritage. This moorland and woodland walk proceeds to Wardle Green by way of Twin Howes, the open moorland affords fine views of the surrounding countryside. From Wardle Green we enter forestry to continue our walk for lunch by the beck at Wheeldale Bridge. We then return by way of the old Roman Road, Carr Wood and Beck Hole, finally, returning to Goathland along the old railway track. A walk offering lots of variety and fine views.
This walk takes in exposed moorland, with potential for wintery conditions, please ensure you wear / bring appropriate seasonal clothing / waterproofs / footwear. Walking poles are an advantage.
The walk is along defined paths and track which may by wet, boggy, slippy and muddy, with the potential for ice/snow. There are also a couple of sections of short road walking and road crossings in Goathland and in Wheeldale.
Bring a pack lunch and a hot drink.
