Overview

A seven mile walk along the towpath. Much of the path is covered in tarmac and people can walk two abreast. There is bird life and a variety of boats on the canal, and there are flowers and bushes by the towpath. We pass interesting buildings and woodland and parkland. We will visit a beautiful Sikh gurdwara in Southall near the canal. For this we wear a headsquare made into a bandana on our heads and remove our shoes to visit the inner sanctum. You might like to bring some prepacked shop food (fruit, veg, - most Sikhs are vegetarian) to donate to the kitchen at the gurdwara, and a donation for having your lunch there. Alternatively, bring your lunch and something to sit on at the side of the canal. Toilets are available at the Gurdwara and at The Old Crown pub at the end of the walk. Food and drinks can also be bought in Southall. To allow time for the visit to the gurdwara and descriptions of points of interest, this walk is likely to take about four hours.
