Three led walks:
Long Walk - 11 miles, 2600 ft ascent Leader: Simon C
Linear from Waterhead. Via Rothay Bridge, Loughrigg, Hammerscar Plantation, Silver Howe, Swinescar Pike, Easedale, Grasmere. A walk that should offer a variety of great views particularly from the top of Loughrigg and then Silver Howe. There is a long climb to Loughrigg in the morning and a staged climb to Silver Howe in the afternoon, the final stretch being quite short but very steep. The descent to Easedale valley is also steep so the walk will demand both stamina and some agility.
Medium Walk Moderate - 9½ miles, 1500ft ascent Leader: Don
Consisting of two circulars. Firstly a short circular past Allan Bank through woods and along the river Rothay. The second a respectful and solemn circular along the coffin road to Rydal. Round Rydal Mount then to the lake and via Rydal cave to Loughrigg Terrace. Up to High Bank and then contouring Huntingstile Crag. Finally, descending through Redbank Wood to the lakeside road at Grasmere lake. Some Wordsworth landmarks.
Short Walk Easy - 6 miles Leader: Geoff
Grasmere Circular. Via The Lea on Grasmere Water, Loughrigg Terrace, Rydal and Dove Cottage.
The coach will leave Grasmere at 6.00 p.m.
