We head west out of Chesham, quickly into open country, and we then walk along the floor of a dry valley. It is then a short climb out of the valley. We then have a little road walking (a quiet road) required by path diversions consequent upon the construction site works for HS2, and we descend to Great Missenden. We will call in for a drink and, if you wish, a meal at a pub in Great Missenden at the end of the walk. Freedom Pass holders need only buy a single rail ticket from Great Missenden to Amersham. Book a place on the walk, and if desired a pub meal (text only) by 18:00 hrs on 10 June - Please see update below. Please say if you plan to join the group other than at Marylebone station.
UPDATE: Please note that the lunchtime stop will be at the end of this walk. I suggest that you bring a small snack to have part way through the walk.
There are various options for the lunchtime meal at Great Missenden:
- There is a pub which requires a pre order from their sandwiches - focaccia menu. Please look at the website for the Cross keys public house at Great Missenden (choose only from their sandwiches/focaccia menu). Let me know what you want by 10 June, 6 pm (text only please).
- There is a picnic option.
- There is a cafe (no pre ordering and no table has been booked).
- I will be traveling to Marylebone from Morden station. If you wish, you can meet me there in time for the 09:26 train.
