Passing three churches, two pubs, a golf course and a river, this is a gently undulating walk through villages close to Stowmarket, with some good views over the countryside. We will be walking mainly on field edge paths and quiet lanes, with a stretch along the River Rattlesden on the way back to our starting point.
3 stiles. Mud guaranteed: we have to cross one very sticky field at the start of the walk (but we'd walked most of it off by the end of the recce). Some quite long vegetation in places and one very rough bit of path that avoids walking on the road. One very short stretch along a potentially busy road (B1115) to cross Buxhall Bridge. Horses in fields.
There is a pub in Great Finborough - the Chestnut Horse.
