Overview

The walk begins at Greenleighton Quarry and follows the NaKonal Trust path over Greenleighton Moor to Fontburn Reservoir. A secKon through woodland round the reservoir brings us to Newbiggin Farm and then, via a farm road and fields intersected by the old Rothbury Line railway track, to RiUon White House. From here, the path goes down to the Font Burn and up to the dam on the reservoir. AYer a short stretch beside the reservoir, the walk concludes by crossing the moor to the quarry edge and back to the car park.

Terrain: The walk is fairly level throughout, over open farmland and moor with extensive views towards Simonside and the Harwood Forest at the start and panoramic views to the south at the finish. It follows a trail round the reservoir, than a farm road, crossing the reservoir dam and finishing on moorland up to the quarry edge. There are a few rough stretches. On the pre-walk at the end of April, there were a few muddy patches, easily avoided.
