The North Downs Way is joined and takes us to the beautiful church of St Martha’s. A path through fine beech woods, which could display spring wild flowers, leads to a tributary of the Tillingbourne stream and the village of Albury. Picnic lunch on Blackheath SSSI, an area of lowland heath amongst heather, pines and birch trees: There is no longer a pub in Blackheath village but there may be a mobile snack bar. After lunch the route reaches Shalford, a station on the Guildford-Dorking line and a possible drop out point. The walk then joins the Wey Navigation footpath back to Guildford. Map: E145, L186.
