Overview

7.5 mile flat circular walk starting at 10.30am and finishing by mid-afternoon, on the relatively remote Gwent Levels on the Welsh side of the River Severn, roughly opposite Portishead

The walk takes us from near the village of Goldcliff, inland across country roads, paths and fields to the quiet village of Redwick. Several stiles on the route. From there, we head to the banks of the Mouth of the River Severn, with spectacular views over to Portishead and Clevedon, and along the Welsh coast. We then follow the Wales Coastal Path back to the start of the walk. This section of the walk will of course be exposed to the elements.

Turn left along the A4810 signed for Magor, and then for Newport, for nearly 2 miles. Just beyond the roundabout leading into the business park, turn left for Redwick. Almost immediately, turn right for Goldcliff. Follow this meandering country road for about 4 miles eventually through the dispersed village of Whitson. Instead of turning right into the village of Goldcliff, carry straight on along the lesser road, Clifton Common, towards the seawall. Approximately 50 minutes by car from Bristol.
