HAMMERSMITH to RICHMOND via RICHMOND PARK

From Hammersmith tube station we cross the bridge and join the towpath walking south. Just before Putney Bridge we turn west to follow the Beverley Brook via Barnes and Palewell Commons to enter Richmond Park via Roehampton Gate, where will we have a short coffee and toilet break. We continue across the park passing behind The Royal Ballet School and around Lower Pen Pond to Pembroke Lodge which will be our lunch stop, (café, toilets, Visitor Centre and shop). On leaving the gardens at Pembroke Lodge, we head slightly downhill to exit the Park via Petersham Gate, then follow a couple of narrow lanes to cross Petersham Meadows and re-join the Thames towpath heading for Richmond Bridge. From here we cross Richmond Green enroute to the station A beautiful and varied walk comprising 2 stretches of the Thames towpath combined with the rugged beauty of Richmond Park; a National Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a haven for wildlife.
