Route begins with a climb to the summit of Black Down, taking in great views of the surrounding landscape and hopefully seeing the heather in flower. We then descend to the village of Fernhurst, and continue along an undulating route through fields and woodlands. Last part of walk passes the impressive ruins of Cowdray House.

Please bring a packed lunch. Pub after lunch and at the end.

Terrain: Hills, woods, fields

Travel: Take the 9:45 from London Waterloo (9:52 Clapham Junction), arrive Haslemere 10:49.

Buy a return to Haslemere.

First part of journey back from Midhurst is by bus, route 70 to Haslemere (buy ticket on the bus - contactless accepted). Last buses leave Midhurst at 17:05, 18:10 and 19:15.
