We’ll take a summer’s evening stroll along the river, passing Hampton Court Palace. We’ll pass the Tijou Screen which marks the Southern boundary of the Privy Garden, designed in 1689, it is one of the most important pieces of architectural ironwork in the country. We’ll turn off the river path to walk through the ancient parkland of Home Park which is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its diverse habitats including the deer herd, veteran trees, and endangered invertebrates. We’ll pass the Long Water, a canal lined by lime trees given by Charles II as a wedding present to his bride in 1660. We’ll emerge from the park and cross the river to finish at a riverside pub in Kingston.
Please keep a 50m distance from the deer in Home Park, during this season the mother's and fawns are very vulnerable. Dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times in Home Park and kept under close control.
