Overview

Starting from West Stoke Car Park, the walk will go through a wonderful, aromatic display of bluebells in Stoke Wood (hopefully) and also offer the probability of seeing deer, grouse, etc within the woodland.  After a walk along some country lanes, there is a gradual, steep ascent up towards the Devil's Humps at Kingley Vale.  On top, there will be a coffee stop and the chance to enjoy magnificent, panoramic views down towards the shore and beyond (on a clear day). The walk continues to Bow Hill, then has a lengthy descent towards West Stoke Village, going through more woodland along the way. On the way down, there are also vast reaching, stunning views.  Less than half a mile from the end of the walk, there will be the opportunity for Coffee & Cake at Design Vintage for those who wish to do so.

From the Fishbourne Roundabout on the Chichester A27 Bypass, take the exit to Fishbourne (A259). In the village, take the turning on the Right to Salthill Road (signposted Train Station). Continue on Salthill Road for approx 1.25 miles to the junction with Funtingdon Road (B1278). Turn Left towards East Ashling, go through the village and then turn Right immediately after the Horse & Groom pub, onto Stoke Road for approx 0.75 mile. Be aware this road is narrow & potholed. Turn towards the carpark on the Left just before the road turns abruptly to the Right. (There are other routes that your satnav might show you but this way is the easiest to find the carpark from Worthing direction)
