Our route is as follows: We’ll head north – mainly along field boundaries to Colston Basset. Coffee stop will probably be at the church yard in Colston Basset. From there we head west past the remains of St Mary’s church and Home Farm. After a short walk along a road, we’ll pick up the Grantham and Nottingham canal which we’ll follow back to Hickling.
The area is fairly flat with the route involving no more than 150 feet of ascent.
Given the time of year and the recent wet weather it is expected that there will be mud in places. Gaiters and walking poles are recommended.
I would expect the walk to take roughly four and a half hours putting us back at the cars between 2:30 and 3:00PM. Sunset is at 4:55 PM
