From the Leisure centre car park we enter the Italian garden at the Myfanwy sculpture. We continue up the hill through woodland trees until we reach the Gorsedd stone circle. Across the field we come across the view of the ski slope. We then walk downhill towards the ski slope and we will come across the Nant-y-Golen ponds. We then climb steeply, through woodland and the tunnel underneath the ski slope until we reach the Grotto. Here will have a coffee break before picking up the Cambrian way path for about 20 mins until we reach the Folly. We will have a short break before continuing on to the old roman road until we reach a lane which leads onto the canal. The roman road is downhill and has loose cobbles, so poles and caution are recommended. At the canal we continue a short distance and will have lunch in the cemetery of St Illtyd church at Mamhilad. Opposite, we can pop into the Star Inn for a quick drink before returning to the canal and the 3 miles back to the start.
