This easy walk covers parts of the Torpel Way and Hereward Way, starting with walk through town towards Morrisons, followed by a stroll alongside the River Welland before lunch stop at Barnack Hills & Holes nature reserve. We then join the Roman road of Ermine Street and return via the fields & pastureland of Burghley Park heading home alongside the Golf course.
We have to cross the railway line and also walk along the road for a small amount of time in a couple of places. There are pastures with grazing livestock: sheep (several), cows (some) & horses. Mostly gates, with a few stiles right at the end in Burghley Park.
The walking was good underfoot during the recce, but may change in places if there is substantial rain before the walk.
In view of livestock in some fields, this walk is not suitable for dogs.
Please consider car sharing arrangements with other members to reduce the pressure on parking spots at the start of the walk.
In the event of severe weather, please contact the leader on the morning to check the walk is still on.
