HINTON AMPNER - APPROX. 5 MILE WALK AND WITH MINCE PIES AND SHERRY
Join me and your fellow members for this historic walk starting at Hinton Ampner. We travel along well-trodden tracks, crossing farmland. We go back in time to the English Civil War (1642 to 1651) and to the Battle Of Cheriton which took place on 29 March 1644 and resulted in the defeat of a Royalist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavalier) army, which threw King Charles I (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_I_of_England) onto the defensive for the remainder of the year.
We pass through the village of Cheriton where we will stop for some seasonal mince pies and sherry.
We should return to Hinton Ampner around 1.30PM to have lunch in the Stables tea room and then do a tour of the house and garden.
This Christmas discover scenes from your most loved pantomimes. Twinkling fairylights will shimmer their magic across this beautiful house. Every room of the ground floor will feature a different, pantomime. Come and bask in the glow of Aladdin’s lamp, see Jack's magic beans and a glittering Cinderella slipper, discover Snow White's sumptuous forest feast and marvel at a quilted mountain of mattresses made ready for a sleepy princess. Fe, fi, fo, fum, is that a giant I hear at Hinton Ampner?
