Join us for a circular history walk starting from COSGROVE, South Northants into the northern edge of Milton Keynes and return. Approximately 7 miles the walk will visit the Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve at Old Wolverton; Wolverton Secret Garden, wall mural and velodrome showing the town's connection with the London to Birmingham railway and coachworks; Old Wolverton church and earthworks of medieval village; impressive aquaduct carrying the Grand Union canal over the Great River Ouse and disused locks that the aquaduct replaced.
Easy terrain mostly on hard surfaced paths, a few short road sections and canal towpath.
No stiles. Three short flights of steps.
Bring your binoculars for the nature reserve. Wading birds and Konic ponies.
Dogs welcome on leads.
Meet at THE BARLEY MOW pub. 7 The Stocks COSGROVE MK19 7JD for a 10am start.
Large CAR PARK at the pub. Please park close together at the far end of the car park to allow room for other pub customers.
There are no toilets on the route but the pub toilets will be available before the walk start.
The BARLEY MOW is open for refreshments after the walk. Please consider at least a coffee as a thank you for using their car park. LUNCH can be pre ordered before the start of the walk, please allow a few minutes extra to avoid a delay to the start of the walk. Menus and contact details are on their website.
