Overview

Starting from the Sirloin PH (closed) on the old road in Hoghton we cross the fields to Gib Lane continuing on to the ruin of Highfield Farm before dropping to the River Darwen at Hoghton Bottoms. We then follow the riverside path to Pleasington Golf Course before climbing to the road in Pleasington. After descending towards Witton Park we cross the railway to join the canal tow path in Cherry Tree which we follow to the old mill sites on the edge of Feniscowles. From here we return to the River Darwen , passing through the gorge to Hoghton Bottoms before climbing to Chapel Lane which leads back to Hoghton
