Join me on my first Ramble lead. My route takes you along Holford Combe's tranquil stream, through twisted ancient oak woodlands and steep'ish, dramatic slopes past Dead Woman's Ditch and on to Dowsborough Iron Age Hill Fort, with dramatic views to the West and out to Wales then via a cairn and descent back into Holford village. There are two ascents which will get your heart rate up, bring poles if you need them. Road walking is limited and mud as long as we don't get prolonged rain between now and then. There is one shallow water crossing, easy in hiking boots and shoes. Dog friendly, but on a lead on the top of the hills please.
I intend to have a few breather and view stops and one refreshment stop.
Fancy a tea/coffee and a cake at the end ? Then there is the Combe House hotel which provides both but you will have to book ahead and it's £9 a head. The reception also mentioned you can't eat your own food there.
