Overview

Holm Dell Woods and Torbreck Woods to the south of Inverness make for a lovely evening walk through gentle woodland. We'll start at the car park before skirting the Ness Castle estate along woodland paths, eventually ending up at the start of Torbreck Woods. These woods form part of the South Loch Ness Trail, a 59km route from Fort Augustus to Inverness. We'll explore the initial section of woods before returning back through Holm Dell Woods towards the car park, via a slightly different route on the way back.

Terrain: Fairly well-maintained woodland paths and grassy field to start. Torbreck Woods' paths are narrower and there are lots of tree roots crossing the paths, so care should be taken not to trip. Depending on the weather it could be muddy so wear sensible walking shoes.
