We know that the Bisterne Dragon is buried underneath the Bolton's Bench at Lyndhurst but we have heard that there is a distant relative still lurking in the woods around Lyndhurst. So we are going on the hunt! Our walk will take us on mostly fairly solid paths through the woods and heathland because a lot of the route is on gravel and sand. There is a bit of mud (but not a lot) and puddles which can be dodged. We also have a couple of busy roads to cross, some easy lane walking with pavements and some very easy level gravel tracks. Just one solid stile to avoid the flooded underpass.
Bring refreshments for a coffee stop.
There are plenty of cafes and pubs in Lyndhurst if you would like lunch afterwards.
Although there is the Southampton/Lymington Blue Star route 6, there are no buses available to get you there in time for the walk start.
