Circular Route: Middleton – Kenslow Knoll – Long Dale – Gratton Dale – Robin Hood’s Strid – Middleton. A mix of field paths, rocky dales, and some lane walking (designated as bridleways on the OS map).
Starting from the centre of Middleton, we begin with an uphill climb along Whitfield Lane to Kenslow Knoll, where we can take in the views and the surrounding woodland. We then skirt the edge of Kenslow Wood to reach Mount Pleasant Farm.
After passing Home Farm, we join the footpath leading into the stunning limestone scenery of Long Dale, continuing through to Gratton Dale. From there, the route passes Lowfields Farm and Rock Farm as we approach the edge of Anthony Hill. Following Cliff Lane, we make our way to the iconic gritstone formations of Robin Hood’s Strid. For the final leg, we follow the Limestone Way to return to Middleton.
