A fine walk around the southern tip of Bute featuring beautiful coastal scenery, superb views and visiting the ruins of St Blane's Chapel. The route forms the first stage of the West Island Way. The terrain is rocky and rough going in parts with some boggy patches and some steep ascents and descents. Walking boots essential.
Local walk grade B (see email, dated 29th July)
There are toilets and refreshments on the 10.05am ferry from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay. We take the 10.50am bus from Rothesay to Kilchattan Bay to the start of the walk at approximately 11.20am.
There is a small cafe with a toilet in Kilchattan Bay at the end of the walk. We aim to catch the 3.20pm bus back to Rothesay for the 4pm ferry to Wemyss Bay.
