Knepp Castle Estate was once intensively farmed, but since 2001 has been subject to a major rewilding project. Free-roaming grazing animals including: cattle, ponies, pigs and deer can be seen as we navigate the 7.0 mile stretch. We pass the ruin of old Knepp Castle that dates back to the 12th century and is now no more than a single tower standing on a grassy mound. There are various tree house type viewing points and a bird hide where we may possibly have our lunch. Could be muddy after rain.
