The route starts in the hamlet of Knill (a "thankful" village where every soldier returned alive from World War I) and follows the valley to Lower Harpton. After joining the Offa's Dyke Path the route climbs the side of Herrock Hill before swinging left along the Dyke to the top of Rushock Hill where we will break for refreshments. In good weather there are long views to the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Leaving the Dyke the route crosses open grassland and briefly follows the Mortimer Trail long distance path before descending through Garraway Wood. Finally it crosses the Hindwell Brook on a foot bridge to return to Knill.
Park near Knill church without blocking access to the nearby houses. The church is worth a visit before or after the walk.
The walk will be taken at a leisurely pace. There are some stiles to negotiate.
