Country and coast, history and literature all come together at Laugharne.
For a change from my usual route, we'll start at the church and go up and over the hill before dropping down to the estuary. The coast path takes us through woods, past Dylan Thomas's writing shed and down to look up at the ancient castle. Dylan's Birthday Walk gives us extensive estuary views from Sir John's Hill. Passing the salt marsh we'll climb up for higher views, then down an overgrown footpath to head back towards the village and finally back to the church.
There are 2 footpaths with undergrowth, partly cleared by Carmarthen Ramblers, so it would be helpful if walkers can bring some secateurs and avoid wearing shorts!
Church car park is £2 cash in honesty box.
Several stiles, some a bit tricky
Livestock in a couple of fields - horses and cattle.
