Moderate circular low hill walk of up to about 8 miles on varied tracks and paths. The Learney Estate is located to the north of Torphins and lies to the south of the B9119 Echt to Tarland road. The Tarland paths group produced a good map of a lot of the paths around Torphins a couple of years ago. They are also helping create some new routes in the locality.
We would like to plan a walk that starts from the well-used quarry car park at the west end of the Hill of Fare on the B993. The Learney Estate lies to the west, across the road from this car park. Unfortunately, the car park is currently closed for forestry work and extracting the timber. The Estate are hopeful that the work will be completed by the Spring 2024. We will be planning a walk in this area, either starting from Torphins village or from the quarry car park to the north. Full details of the meeting place and the route will be provided once a reconnaissance is possible.
Booking is essential. Please contact the walk leader Jay using the contact details provided to book, or if you have any questions, by the Thursday evening prior to the walk. Please phone or text. If you leave a message please remember to leave your name and contact telephone number. Confirmation of your booking is required for attendance. It is essential for the walk leader to know who is coming on the walk and to be able to contact people should there be any changes. Please remember to contact the walk leader if you are no longer able to attend.
