The walk combines two new sections of the Rail Trail from Ledbury to Colwall and Colwall to Malvern Link, but we'll be doing the outward leg by bus rather than train. From Ledbury we join the Geopark Way along the edge of Firth Wood with good views westwards into Herefordshire. There is then a short section on a quite lane before we climb up to enjoy the amazing views from Oyster Hill. We then follow the Geopark Way as far as Colwall church and a more direct route to Colwall Green. From there the onward route climbs gradually on good tracks and paths to West Malvern and around North Hill before dropping down steeply to the finish at Malvern Link.
We will meet at Top Link Car Park (free) before a short walk up towards the Clock Tower to catch the 10am bus from Malvern to Ledbury. We will then walk the 10 miles back from Ledbury station to Malvern Link. The walk includes two short, but relatively steep climbs up to Firth Wood and Oyster Hill. There's also seven stiles including a couple of awkward ones from Oyster Hill to Colwall Church. The climb up and around North Hill is sustained but gradual and on good tracks and paths. Please ensure you wear walking boots and bring waterproof clothing in case it rains and a hat and suncream if its sunny. You'll also need a rucksack to carry spare clothing as well as a packed lunch, snacks and plenty to drink for the day.
