Overview

This walk is for up to 20 people, including the leader.

Join us for a lovely circular walk near Leighton Buzzard, full of scenic views and peaceful spots. The walk is mostly flat, but includes gentle slopes that are manageable for most walkers, with some variation in the terrain adding to the scenic experience.

We begin in Leighton Buzzard, then head north through charming countryside and residential streets, offering a nice mix of nature and local life. From there, we’ll make our way into Rushmere Country Park, one of the highlights of the walk, with lakes, woodlands, and open grassy areas. We’ll stop here for a 30-minute lunch break, giving everyone time to rest, refuel, and enjoy the natural beauty around us.

After lunch, we’ll cross the River Ouzel and head north towards the Three Locks on the Grand Union Canal. The Three Locks are a series of historic, well-preserved canal locks that once played a vital role in transporting goods during the industrial era. Today, they offer a picturesque setting with the working locks, narrowboats, and tranquil waters—perfect for watching boats navigate the locks and enjoying the peaceful canal scenery.

The Grand Union Canal itself is one of the major waterways connecting London to the Midlands, offering a scenic, historic waterway lined with trees and wildlife. The route then loops back to Leighton Buzzard. We look forward to sharing this beautiful part of the world with you—come along and enjoy the scenery!

At the end of the walk there is an option of a drinks stop at The Globe Inn, 5 minute walk away from our start/end point.

Dogs are welcome on a lead.

For information about walking with the group, including our dog policy, please visit the Stag Walkers website.

Booking your place: Please book your place using the free Meetup website/app. Join the Stag Walkers Meetup group and click the 'Attend' button on the event page.

Please do not turn up for a walk without booking, as places are limited.

If the walk is fully booked, click 'join waitlist' to get a place if one becomes available and please check back regularly as you will likely get a place. The waitlist gives priority to single bookings so if you wish to bring a guest, we recommend booking separately.

Unless you opt in to further communications, we will only use contact information you provide to get in touch about the walk.
