Overview

This walk includes a lunch at the Angel pub near Longham, open to all but with an opportunity to say a big ‘thank you’ to the group’s walk leaders for their efforts by inviting them to a meal partly paid from group funds. See later for booking meals.

A shortish walk (for once) with the above purpose, but surprisingly pretty involving river, woodland, heath and lakeside views, substantially on good solid paths and virtually level throughout, though being near the Stour (includes a section of the Stour Valley Way) some mud and moisture cannot be ruled out! We begin at the pub, heading off across heath and woodland tracks toward Pompey’s Corner, passing Knoll Gardens and joining the Ferndown Stour and Forest Trail to Longham Lakes, and then to the SVW through Millhams Nature Reserve, onward to Dudsbury Rings, and through lovely deciduous woodland in a closing stretch that returns us to the pub, for lunch, a drink or nowt, as you prefer.

Note: our group walks quite briskly; while this route isn’t at all demanding of terrain or distance for many, if you have any concerns about fitness/capability please contact the walk leader in advance.
