This walk starts at the highest point in the Cranborne Chase – the Bronze Age barrow at Win Green. We take in spectacular views as we follow the Wessex Ridgeway down past watercress beds in the Nadder valley and on to Ludwell. We then head West along rural footpaths and minor roads into the centre of the ancient town of Shaftesbury where we will stop for a lunch break. Next we drop down the steep, cobbled, Gold Hill famously featured in the 1970s Hovis bread television advert. Heading South then East we pass through farmland to Cann Common and Charlton villages then South East back to Win Green.
The walk follows some minor roads for short distances – care is needed.
Moderate, some climbs.
Bring drinks, snacks and a packed lunch to keep you going.
