We start by walking up the hill and turning right at the top heading towards the A6003. We cross over the road heading via the site of Martinsthorpe (medieval village) past America Lodge and on to Brooke, where we will have a coffee stop outside St Peter's church. We then head down the road passing the church on our right and head for Gunthorpe taking the bridleway over the railway line to the A6003. We cross over the main road heading to join the Rutland Water Cycle track for a short distance before joining the path which runs alongside the main A6003. We then make our way back to Manton. This is a fairly flat route on tracks and field paths.
A picnic is not required on this walk as we should finish by around 12.30pm.
Dogs are welcome on this walk, with the proviso that they are on leads at all times
The Horse & Jockey will be open at the end of the walk for those wishing to have something to drink - or indeed Sunday lunch but would advise you to book a table prior to the day of the walk.
Please consider car sharing arrangements with other members to reduce the pressure on parking spots at the start of the walk.
In the event of severe weather, please contact the leader on the day of the walk to check the walk is still on.
