On the eastern edge of the Campsie Hills, Meikle Bin is perhaps one of the only hills in Scotland where it's possible to take in both East and West coast views of Scotland from its summit.
The Carron Valley has also been used as a location for the Outlander TV series because of its stunning scenery. All in, the hill makes for a rewarding climb and enjoyable day out.
The walk skirts the side of the Carron Valley reservoir and meanders through forest paths before beginning a fairly steady climb up Meikle Bin itself.
The path up the hill is rather sparse and boggy in places, so appropriate footwear is needed, even if it is not raining on the day.
