The walk starts at Montacute centre, goes past the Priory and Abbey Farm onto Hamden Hill.  At this point there will be chance of visiting the war memorial and tour the country park.  The route passes Little Norton and skirts around Norton sub Hamdon before heading towards East Chinnok and thence back to Montacute.

There will be a mixture of lanes, tracks and droves some of which are wooded and some open countryside.  Some sections will be muddy and care should be taken.  Waterproofs, gaiters and walking stickers are recommended.
