Overview

A 6.5 mile walk round Montgomery with some history and some spectacular views.  This leisurely walk starts with a steady climb up to Montgomery castle and Montgomery War Memorial, where there are some spectacular views, weather permitting.  The field below the memorial is thought to have been a key location in the Battle of Montgomery in 1644.  The route then follows gently undulating paths across fields with some short sections of road and lanes to join Offa's Dyke, before returning to Montgomery via Lymore Park.  If there's been a lot of rain, it will be muddy in places.  Total ascent 740 feet.
